I hope everyone had a wonderful fall break! Breaks always seem to go by too fast! Hopefully, all of you are rested and ready to hit the ground running! We only have four days this week since Friday is a staff-only day!

Honors English II

Before the break, we were studying inference vs. prediction and characterization. This week, we will move on to how to annotate texts. Afterwards, we will go into cinematic analysis. This will continue to build a solid foundation to analyze literature, including the artwork of the first graphic novel we will read: Persepolis. 

English IV

Seniors will present their Career Research Projects this week! Everyone should be ready to go on Monday! This has been an exciting project and I feel that many students have learned a great deal about their career fields of interest. Our next unit will focus on writing a college admissions essay, or an essay based around common job interview questions. By the end of these two units, students should have a good base of knowledge about the career they are interested in, what their next steps should be, and an admissions essay prepared for college or some great answers to common job interview questions. After the college and career readiness units, we will move into literature and analysis.

Fall Break Travel Information

 Fall Break Travel Information Below is a release from the district regarding travel, especially out-of-state travel, during fall break: Scott County Schools will be on fall break on October 5-9, 2020.  There will be no virtual classes during this time.  We anticipate that some students and staff members will travel during fall break and wanted to address questions related to expectations for travel and self-quarantine recommended by government officials. In July, the Kentucky Department for Public Health issued a travel advisory with the recommendation of a 14-day self-quarantine for travelers who go to any state reporting a positive testing rate equal to or greater than 15% of COVID-19 testing.  An up-to-date listing of these states is posted at  www.kycovid19.com .  This list changes frequently but, at the time of this printing (9/28/20), the following states were included in the travel advisory: Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.  The Department of Public Health also
