Art and Literary Considerations  If your curious about how viral epidemics have been portrayed in art and literature, here are a few suggestions to check out if you are bored. Note: do not let this cause you stress or make you panic. Not everything on here is realistic and is meant for entertainment and to spark thought only. Do not take this medically or scientifically sound! Literature Last Town on Earth (Thomas Mullen) : During WWI, a small, fictional logging town takes drastic measures to close itself off to the outside world in the midst of the Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. It depicts the impact on supplies, quarantines, and the psychology of those in town. Updates and Considerations

Updates and Considerations As we approach spring break, I just wanted to list some of the information that has been passed down as well as a few things, especially for seniors, to consider moving forward. Updates School is closed until April 20th. We will continue conducting NTI work and will still observe spring break (no work will be given over the break). KPREP testing is cancelled state-wide. Hon. Eng. 2 students: you will not be taking spring MAP and will most likely not take the End of Course (EOC) exam. Continue completing NTI work. Please submit work via email or google docs to me and leave Remind for quick questions. It is too easy to lose work via Remind and I cannot keep a record of files sent to me via Remind. Remind and my teacher website will continue to be the offical channel of communication for my courses. Please check both daily! NTI Days 11-13: March 25-27 The NTI work for the next three days was created by the administration. Therefore, you will have to join Ms. Musick's google classroom. Be sure to join the classroom that corresponds to your grade level (9-12). Below are the join codes per grade level: Freshmen : jznik3z Sophomores : 3lxrdvu Juniors : 4wgq6ho Seniors : zif6g4x This writing assignment is the same across all grade levels and will cover your daily NTI work for every class. This is not a graded assignment and is for practice only; however, it is imperative that you submit work. Remember : we must reach a certain percentage of students completing NTI work for these days to count! It does not have to be the best essay you have ever written and you should definitely not stress out over it, but you must submit something! Let me know if you have any questions! I will post updates and information about what to expect after spring break in the next day or so!

If you have already completed March Reading Log #1, then you will receive full points for NTI Day 9 and you are finished! If you have it listed as missing, complete it! Week 1 NTI Work

Week 1 NTI Work For All Classes During our first week out, from Mar. 16-20, we will continue with the usual NTI assignments. You are to do the following: Read your Independent Reading Book for approx. 15-20 minutes each day Log what pages you read each day Example: March 16: Pp. 123-156 On Friday, write a one-page response to a prompt that I will provide on Thursday night You will share this to me: Matthew.Drury@scott.kyschools.us Additionally, be sure to check Remind, your school email, and my teacher website at least once a day. These are my official means of contacting you and you are responsible for keeping up with any communications via these means.  What if I do not have an Independent Reading Book? You may use any book at home, any digital version of a book, or even an audio book. Due to the spread of COVID-19, I would not recommend going to a crowded store or library to obtain a book. They provide in-depth info on what it is, how it is transmitted, who is at risk, how to prevent and treat, and even recommendations for schools, daycares, and more.
