Historian Journal Prompt

For this week's NTI, put yourself in the role of a historian. You will write a journal detailing what you are seeing in the news, how the world, how our nation,  and how your friends, neighbors, and family are responding to this pandemic.

You are creating a primary source that could be used by people in the future to learn about our lives during this crisis from your unique perspective. Be authentic, honest, and reflective.

Consider these guiding questions or any variation of them as you write (you do not need to answer all of these!):
  • What did the government announce/declare/implement today or recently?
    • Does it make sense?
    • Does it impact your life?
    • How did you family respond?
  • What is open in your neighborhood? What is closed?
  • How is day different from yesterday for you, your family, our nation, the world?
  • Did you see anything today in person, in the news, or on social media that gave you hope or anxiety?
  • What does you family need today that you might not have, have enough of, or might have difficulty acquiring?

Requirements

Overall, you will complete two journal entries throughout the week. Each entry must be completed on a separate day and must be at least half of a page. All work will be due by the end of the day on Thursday, April 9 and will be graded on Friday, April 10.

On your entries, please include: name, date, and class period.
